This album comes from an exploration of embodiment as a way to relate to place. I call this listening through touch. Feeling sonic qualities in my body, like vibration, texture, rhythm and resonance, help me to have empathy for different places and beings that I visit and record at. I can move my awareness through myself like layers of a pond and deepen my awareness of these shared qualities outside of myself. I have been exploring this through Body-Mind Centering as taught by Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, and mentored with Quebec based dancer / choreographer / BMC teacher, Mariko Tanabe. Embodiment ideas were translated through improvisational musicians in Thunder Bay, Canada.
